Mission Driven Entrepreneurs Episode 50 - Clair Challenor-Chadwick of Cause UK

Clair Challenor-Chadwick of Cause UKClair Challenor-Chadwick started her career in the City of London. After seven years of “doing her time” she was ready to make a change, and moved north to beautiful Yorkshire (we're biased!) to be closer to family and to seek the elusive “work / life balance”.

In 2010, at the nadir of the UK economy following the 2008 financial crisis, she set up Cause UK to provide professional PR and marketing services to charities, social enterprises and public sector bodies. Even though these organisations were in the midst of shedding jobs, Clair realized that they still needed to market themselves and if there was no one in-house to do that then they would need to bring in expertise from outside.

Five years later it’s been a steep learning curve but, as Clair says, the highlight is the work she does every day with the amazing organisations that make up the clients and partners of Cause UK.

What you’ll learn in this episode:

  • How Clair sources new clients from the 3rd Sector
  • Which branch of social media is most useful to her business
  • The main challenge in setting up Cause UK, and how they’re positioning themselves to meet it
  • The challenges of running the business itself
  • The different business models the company uses
