Hi, I’m Jane Barrett
I’m an executive search consultant and coach for greentech organisations and for-purpose leaders.
I’m also a career coach, speaker, author, podcast host, and creator of the online course Career Maximiser, used by over 20,000 students.
For more than 20 years, I’ve successfully developed the careers of high-calibre talent at the UK and Europe’s top business schools, including INSEAD, HEC, WHU Kellogg, London Business School, Saïd (Oxford) and Judge (Cambridge).
I’ve now combined my unique network and skills with my deep-rooted belief that technology is our best chance of saving the planet.
Through executive search, executive coaching and career coaching, I help greentech companies find and develop amazing leaders to scale their impact, while empowering senior leaders to grow careers they love.
I believe the work of finding and developing the right leaders for your business is too important and impactful to leave to a big, soulless firm.
Here’s my approach:
Straight-talking and helpful, not vague or unresponsive
A search and coaching partner, not just a supplier
Selective about who I work with, so I can give your search the time and focus it deserves
A clear, step-by-step process
I really get to know the organisations and people I work with so I can ensure the right fit and help them carve a clear path forward
I genuinely care about the careers of the people I work with. It is my life’s work!
A bit about my journey
I started my career in recruitment for PwC and a leading search firm.
Growing frustrated at the number of great applicants who were missing out on opportunities simply because they couldn’t “sell themselves” with clarity and confidence, I retrained as a careers coach.
I spent the next 20+ years coaching top talent at business schools to career success.
I published my book Taking Charge of Your Career in 2017, and created an online course, Career Maximiser, which has been used by over 20,000 students so far and is trusted by business schools including INSEAD, HEC and Judge (Cambridge).
Around this time, I started to think about how I could use what I’d built to help with the climate crisis.
And I realised one of the biggest barriers to the net-zero economy is that greentech companies can’t find the leaders they need to scale.
So, I decided to dedicate my skills and network to this cause.
As well as having a deep understanding of what motivates leaders to change careers, I have a unique network of CTO/CIOs, CROs, COOs, CEOs, Chiefs of Staff and change-makers who are ideally placed to take greentech companies to the top.
Meet the team
Executive search team
I’ve worked with the individuals in my executive search team for many years. They have strong track records and help me find the right people for your organisation.
Gina leads our executive research activity. She’s an experienced researcher, senior recruiter and interviewer, having worked for over 20 years with executive search firms and in-house at Microsoft, Amazon and Citrix.
Vicky Maxwell Davies
Vicky is a specialist advisor on developing female technology leaders. She worked at IBM (Paris and London) and Oracle before building a career in executive search, where she spent more than 20 years recruiting senior CIO roles.
Cathy has spent 25 years working with global boards in all sectors to help them understand what a good CIO/CDO/CTO looks like. In her role as a leading technology headhunter, she’s placed some of the top technology leaders in the world.
Executive coaching team
I work with a team of coaches (too many to list here!) that I trust 100%. They’ve held leadership positions at SMEs and FTSE 100 companies and coached alumni from top business schools, including CEOs, board members and senior managers. They’re stellar!
Head of Coaching
Alison is a coach for director- and board-level senior executives and those wishing to pursue consultancy, non-executive director and portfolio careers. She worked for Alliance Manchester Business School for over 15 years, leading career management for MBA students and delivering the leadership experience for the Global Executive MBA.
On a more personal note
I’m based in Harrogate, Yorkshire, but I work with organisations and candidates across the UK and Europe.
When I’m not working, I enjoy playing padel tennis, paddle boarding, kayaking, open canoeing, walking my cocker spaniel Milo, and exploring the UK and Europe with my husband in our campervan.
I set up and helped fund a job club in Harrogate helping Ukrainian refugees find employment.
